MOVIE SOUNDTRACK FEATURE: "JAI HO"

Slumdog Millionaire was a successful movie about a boy who appears on India's version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and is accused of cheating. It won multiple Academy Awards as well as the award for Best Picture at the Oscars. The soundtrack was equally successful, grabbing the Golden Globe for Best Original Score, two Academy Awards and two Grammy awards. One of those Grammys was for today's song selection as Best Song Written for Visual Media. A.R. Rahman, who composed the original score for the film, said he was trying "to mix modern India with old India" for the soundtrack. As a result of his score, the soundtrack peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200. The lyrics to "Jai Ho" are a mix of Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.
